The GreenCityLabHuế project organized a series of co-creation activities to jointly develop locally appropriate Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for climate adaptation within the urban context.
The workshop provided an open and interactive platform for exchanging perspectives and refining design concepts. Participants critically assessed the strengths and weaknesses of each proposal and contributed valuable suggestions regarding construction materials, vegetation, drainage performance, heat mitigation, accessibility, and safety. The discussions highlighted the strong interest of young people in co-creating environmentally friendly, climate-adaptive, and greener learning environments.
At the same time, GreenCityLabHuế also facilitated community dialogue sessions in Định Môn to support the future development of the local cultural green space. Representatives of local authorities, mass organizations, and community members shared their ideas and expectations for the site. Participants expressed a desire for more trees and shaded areas, children’s playgrounds, sports facilities, public toilets, shelters, and improved lightning. Many also emphasized the importance of better connecting the green space with nearby cultural and public facilities, including the Định Môn communal house, the football field, and surrounding cultural landmarks to strengthen landscape value of the area and opportunities for community activities.
Through these co-creation activities, GreenCityLabHuế seeks to insure that future green spaces are not only attractive and functional but also closely aligned with the needs and aspirations of local communities. By integrating local knowledge and stakeholder perspectives into the planning process, the project contributes to better living environments and enhanced climate resilience in Huế City.
