Welcome on the website of the funding priority »Sustainable Development of Urban Regions«! SURE is part of the Research for Sustainability Strategy (FONA) of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
With FONA, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research has set itself the task of achieving the climate goals as well as protecting habitats and developing the society and economy further. The FONA Strategy relies on the innovation potential of research and development to enable people-oriented and sustainable action.
The Sustainable Development of Urban Regions (»SURE«) funding priority is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research from 2017 to 2027. SURE research activities focus on integrated urban and regional planning as well as the development of nature-, technology- and community-based solutions for climate-friendly lifestyles in Southeast Asia and China. Besides the development of practical applications, know-how for decision makers in politics, administration and business for local implementation is created. SURE is scientifically and organisationally supported by a networking, transfer and synthesis project. The SURE team supports the research and development projects individually and raises cross-project synergy potentials to the level of te SURE funding priority.
