SURE Status Seminar 2022
The SURE Facilitation and Synthesis Research Team is pleased to announce the Status Seminar 2022 which will take place 4 and 5 May in Berlin, Harnack Haus. Please share this invitation with your SURE colleagues and partners.
Abstract on the event
The development of urban regions in Southeast Asia and China faces challenges due to growing dynamism, complexity, and pressure to act. Following the call for new collaborative approaches in the urban and rural development that put people first, aligned with the SDGs and the New Urban Agenda, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) promotes applied research through the funding priority »Sustainable Development of Urban Regions«. Ten collaborative projects within the SURE framework develop concepts and test locally implementable solutions and strategies for sustainable transformation of fast-growing urban regions in Southeast Asia and China.
The SURE status seminar takes a snapshot of the ongoing research and elevates sustainable urban transformation discourse. The session takes stock of global, regional and local pathways and strategies for multisectoral collaboration to build transformative urban-rural adaptation and resilience for sustainable futures. Eminent researchers frame the event and provide a global perspective on sustainable transformation trends and pathways for cities. The ten SURE collaborative projects provide a distinguished regional focus on Southeast Asia and China through their research activities, focus topics, and recent attempts to bring new collaborative approaches into being. The session outlines interactively emerging trends and challenges within the sustainable transformation research discourse and inspires further synthesis research.
